Since 1947, Standard Bank has served the southwest metropolitan Chicagoland area. With our substantial growth, we have recently expanded to 42 locations and now serve communities in Cook, Dupage, Will and Grundy Counties in Illinois and the Northwest Indiana counties of Lake and Porter.

After incorporation in 1947, Standard State Bank, as it was called, served the people of southwest metropolitan Chicago at 79th Street and Ashland Avenue.  In 1970, the Bank moved to its present location at 95th Street and Western Avenue in Evergreen Park.  On April 1, 1980, the Bank’s first facility was opened at 4001 West 95th Street, Oak Lawn.  A second facility was opened at 119th Street and Southwest Highway in Palos Park on March 3, 1986.  A third facility was opened on November 15, 1990, and is located at 131st Street and LaGrange Road.  On September 19, 1992, Standard Bank of Hickory Hills, located at 7800 West 95th Street, merged with our main Bank.  On December 3, 1994, we opened a new facility located at 159th and Wolf Road in Orland Park.  The Naperville facility located at 1607 N. Aurora Road was opened on December 29, 1998.

On February 19, 1999, we continued to expand our Bank’s “area of service” with the purchase of the historic Exchange Bank located in Gardner, Illinois.  Exchange Bank, which was established in 1871, was the only bank in Grundy County that remained open every single day for business during the “Great Depression”.  Exchange Bank celebrated its 120th anniversary in 1991.  We are proud to have Exchange Bank and its 4 additional banking facilities join the Standard Bank family. 

In 2003, the bank completed three mergers. On April 26, the Dolton branch of Umbrella Bank became part of Standard Bank. Then on May 15, Bank Chicago became Standard Bank. Then on June 20, 2003, Security Federal Bank & Trust, with 6 locations in nearby Northwest Indiana came aboard.

With 2007, we celebrate our 60th Anniversary, all thanks to the communities we serve, who have welcomed us with open arms.

We continue to grow! New branches have opened in Chesterton, Indiana and the Lakeview area of Downtown Chicago; more are on the way.
